Well although the limited company may have been going since then, the site may not have been.
A whois search shows that www.theanswerbank.co.uk was registered as a domain name in March 2000.
I would suspect that the site did not operate immediately.
Maybe Andy hughes will come along and tell us - he was one of the original members.
Interesting. You used to be able to find the first question by putting question1 into the URL but it doesn't seem to be there now. Somebody may be surreptitiously pruning the archive.

yeah, I joined shortly after the Boer war, B00, but I had to wait about 100 years until there was an internet to put AB on, so it was a bit quiet in the early days.
