Lake Superior is the biggest lake in the world (unless you count the Caspian Sea), but it's shared between Canada and the USA. The largest one inside Canada is as Ethel says.

Jno, Lake Baikal is reckoned to be the world's biggest. It holds 20% of the world's fresh water - more water than all the US Great Lakes combined.

you're right, heathfield - I was going on surface area, but Baikal is much deeper than the Great Lakes, so would have more water in it.
