why doesnt racism cut two ways?

Ive heard it all now?
Had to attend the council office today after my next door neighbours Have complained that Im Making too much noise (kids shouting, doors slamming etc...all of which we can hear from theire side as well, walls like tissue paper). After talking for some time I made the comment that Ive NEVER reported anyone to the council as I find it petty, in spite of the fact that some time ago my neighbours and their friends had a midnight barbaque and were slagging England off and saying that Bin Laden was the man to sort the UK out (they are all foriegners who have come to live in the UK). According to the council this is all right as its only a matter of opinion.
I then asked what if I were to sit in my garden with friends and discussed bringing back the slave trade (as its only a matter of opinion) OH NO! Cant do that...thatll be classed as racist apparently.
Isnt it great to live in a multi culteral society?

i think you are confusing the issue somewhat here. No point ranting about the neighbours because they have complained about you. it sounds like they have a good reason, other wise it wouldnt have got so far. if you chose not to complain about their noisiness, it's up to you. Why don't you just move if th ey are so abhorrent to you?

I still don’t get how having a late night BBQ and putting the world (or England) to rights is considered racist. I hear that all the time down my local. Bringing back the slave trade could be identified with genitival persecution and therefore could be deemed racist, since more often the captives and chattel slaves were most likely from different nationalities and not your own. However, having said that, I would have thought it was a more inhumane declaration than a racist one, so I imagine the council meeting minutes have a wonderful ‘record’ of your political and humanitarian ideology towards your multi-cultural countrymen.

Shame you had to stoop to the race card really.
