I would really like some opinions on this please. My seven -half year old daughter came home today saying that she was punished in her R.E class because when they played some Indian (Pakistan) music it made her giggle. She just thought it was strange sounding music, but the teacher sat her down and told her to write a letter of apology to the Muslims in the class. I am absolutely livid to say the least and really would appreciate some feedback on what I should do. thanks in advance

DrFilth, I work in a secondary school and sixth form centre so I don't really know how a junior school teacher's pay would compare. I still think it is possible though.
For instance, my child's junior/infant school only has 4 classes, so her teacher is teaching both yr5 and yr6 in the same class (it's a very small school). What with lesson planning not being quite as simple as teaching one year only and having to get one year through their SATS while also teaching the year below, I don't know if that would make a difference to her salary. As it is such a small school there are few support staff too so I imagine that would bring respsonsibilities that a teacher in a larger school might not have. Inner city pay scales may well be higher than more suburban or rural areas too so it's really hard to say for sure.

Quote "Next thing we won't be allowed to eat or drink during Ramadam in case it insults Muslims." unquote
Wow Beso... I hope it doesn't come to that. But it does seem to be edging that way. More so with Muslim religion than any other. They seem to be extra sensitive. Wonder why that is?

It almost invaribly involves the Moslems because everyone is shut scared of upsetting them. Say the wrong thing and they want to kill you.
Make an image of their prophet (even though nobody knows what he really looked like) and they try to destroy anything to do with the country you live in.
This will probably be enough to bring a jihad on me:
Mohammed > ( :-( )
Both the major Arab doctrines (Judaism and its more popular decendantt Mohammedism) are obsessed with killing and total compliance by all.
Violence and murder also lies just below the surface of the other Judaist derivitave, Christianity. Unfortunately the First Commandment, common to all the Abrahamic doctrines, "Thou shalt worship none but Me" is taken as "Thou shalt worship me."

Only some extremist Muslims are against music. They don't like it because music puts people in touch with real spirit and that might inspire them more than the hogwash spouted in the Koran.

Anyway my point is
RELIGION IS DIFFERENT FROM CULTURE.
Either the kid is lying or the teacher is daft.

How dare you laugh at the symphony.
Now apologize to all the Christians.
