why the hell do these airlines keep on plying people with drinks? There should be a strict no alcohol policy with flying. Some airlines and airports have only themselves to blame.

Think they must have been well on the way before they got on the plane but if they were behaving at that point then no reason to not allow them to board I suppose. Disgraceful and costly behaviour. They should be ashamed.
Possibly half piste before they boarded gordie, but I agree. The airlines have themselves to blame for some of the incidents. You have got to hope that the "heads" who caused the trouble get charged and are pursued by the operators, police, and everybody who was inconvenienced, for compensation and the full reimbursement of all costs.
blimey the scots are a drunken lot - arent they ?
Thank goodness I used to want only to go to sleep when I'd had too much to drink.
Also a tremendous health hazard to drink alcohol at high altitudes. To a very large extent the airlines rely on onboard sales. It makes fares cheaper, and, I suppose, enables more of us to afford to travel.
The article mentions rowdy/disruptive but if they were drunk they got on the plane that way it appears, hardly time to order a drink in the air from Glasgow to Toulouse.

Airlines should indeed vet those boarding rather better.
Perhaps much better not to have any alcoholic sales or bars in the departure areas.
Nellie...if all airports did that, they would soon go bankrupt.

Anyway, why should the vast majority of flyers have to suffer because of a tiny minority ?
What I am saying Mikey that is if airlines didn't sell booze and duty frees on flights, fares would go up. The cheap airlines rely on these sales. Half p****d louts should not be allowed on board, unfortunately some airlines are not as strict as they should be. Personally i don't drink anything except water on flights. Lots of it.

Gordie - on a more important subject: did your trip to the vet go without incident?

Frankie always seems to know where we are going and hides. His sister is so thick that she is oblivious to the whole thing.
a load of p155ed up scottish! well rub me down with the Daily Record!
we should not all be punished for the activities of a few idiots who cannot hold their drink. The current rules are mostly good enough.
TTT. I don't possess the actual data, but I'm not sure it is only Scots who behave badly on aeroplanes. ?
It was a flight from Glasgow , it is compulsory to be pi**** before take off!
I didn't know that Eddie.
People have drinks to relax and calm their fear of flying. The issue is that the servers should be good barkeeps and not serve those who have had enough and who are not reacting well to the drug. Maybe profit is a greater priority for the airlines ?
Of all the thousands of people flying each day these incidents are few and far between so why should the majority be denied a drink.
The safest airline in the world doesn't serve alcohol, or allow it to be consumed onboard.
I'm pretty sure Quantas does serve alcohol Mr boatman.
Old_Geezer - //People have drinks to relax and calm their fear of flying. The issue is that the servers should be good barkeeps and not serve those who have had enough and who are not reacting well to the drug.//

I disagree - with a three-hour check-in before you can fly, people are bored, and when they are bored, and there is a bar, the result is inevitable.
