....An audience with Henry VIII.......for my birding group......

About fifty of us in the village hall......chatting til the lights went down and into the hall stormed Henry....wanting to know who the hell we were and what B******* was playing bloody Greensleeves!!!!

Henry wanted us to know he'd never had syphilis.......why he really, really had to get rid of the wives and where the hell was God???

He, Henry, had been dead for 469 years....been promised on his death bed that he was to meet his maker........but was still wandering around in Purgatory (or Northants) talking to the likes of us.......

Do see it if you can....the most wonderful and entertaining evening.......I'll put a link up in a sec.....☺

Was he really fat like his portraits, gness ?.
Did he not have gout or somesuch?
I doubt he could wander anywhere for 469 years.
I've been poorly so being able to hold down food and drink after three days has been bliss. It will also be bliss if I manage to get some sleep in.

I have to say I wasn't really looking forward to this - a couple hours in a draughty Village Hall, when we could have been sat chewing the fat by the logburner in my local pub. But the lady twitchers are quite persuasive.

It was just brilliant - Henry was a very real, flawed, human being (albeit a dead one) and it was a fascinating experience.

See it if you can - a great night out (and a very educational one too).

And that is me (sunny dave) forgetting to sign my post - we are all back at Gness's having a post show pint.

Just like his portraits, Tony.....with a grotty bandage on the leg, Shoota....all bloody and gory.....

Be better soon, Ummmm.......Dave will probably say the same......with my avatar......x
Henry wanted us to know he'd never had syphilis.

The king doth protest to much, methinks ;-)
Question Author
Well I wouldn't have argued with him tonight, Tony.......it was an intimate venue....so I just smiled and agreed with everything he said.....especially about the French and the Welsh........☺
Get well soon, ummmm. Seems to be a lot of bugs going around ( there is in my neck of the woods anyway ).
My 'bliss' is simply being at home, having fed OH, and giving some of my time here (it's just started raining by the way - even more bliss!).

Reason? Tomorrow morning I am up at the Community Centre by 10.30 to help to administer our GREAT Jumble Sale in aid of Yorkshire flood victims. Just doing the publicity has taken untold hours, never mind my painstaking lettering on a banner.

If I'm still alive this time tomorrow,, I'll let you know how it went.

PS Now pouring down noisily :(
Thanks, Tony, I did proper feel sorry for myself...
with a grotty bandage on the leg

That apothecary didn't leave the leeches on long enough.

Best of luck tomorrow, jourdain ( raining here to ).
Nothing worse than speaking into the big White telephone for days, ummmm.
Question Author

Curl up and feel sorry for yourself, Ummmm.....x
