VHG - "Plenty of Muslims fought (and died) WITH the allies in WW2..."
Indeed they did.
But if we're going to be factually and historically accurate here, it must be said that plenty of muslims also fought AGAINST the allies in WW2.
My Grandfather was in North Africa in the Seventh Armoured Division - also known as the Desert Rats - and he told me on numerous occasions that the north African Arab muslims were, for the most part, mercenaries who would fight for whichever side promised to pay them the most. So much so in fact that he sometimes saw the bodies of Arab men killed fighting FOR the Nazis that he'd known personally as they'd previously been fighting FOR the Allies.
That experience left him with a deep mistrust of the north African Arab muslims. As he put it, "One minute they're fighting alongside you against the Germans; the next minute, the *** are shooting at you.".
Sounds hauntingly familiar doesn't it?

Fair point, well made birdie but I think we're straying away from the point slightly. redvanman's assertions are borne from prejudice whereas yours are from experience. I don't think anyone's saying any particular group or people are all good or all bad but should be judged (if judging is necessary) individually. Though I cross swords with an intellectual GIANT as redvanman with extreme caution I do think he has a lot to learn when dealing with people (and the English language come to that, eg 'brave men that fought', men are people not things - 'men WHO fought') but possibly with attention to detail and the odd wrap across his knuckles he'll learn.
