I know some people believe in both god and evolution, but i would like to hear from those that believe in god only. What makes you not believe in evolution? Scientists say it's true and I don't think they would say evolution is true when it's not. I find that the ones who reject it, are the ones who know absolutely nothing about it or they think they know about it. The theory doesn't say humans came from monkeys. It says we share a common ancestor with apes. What makes you not believe it to be true especially if you have not even studied it?

A belief in God isn't incompatible with the acceptance of evolution. It's all part of his wonderful creation.
Yes Sandy along with atheism...
I don't think you will get many answers with such tight parameters
[i] I sometimes think atheism to be the work of The Great Hornéd One [i]
You'd probably get more answers from the folk you wish to answer if you posted on a US site.
Atheism is just god's little joke to keep his sheep on their mettle.
Evolution cannot be denied. Life seems to me a phenomenon that occurs in anything capable of sustaining it. I wish I could believe in God but being a pragmatic sort of person I find it difficult to know what to believe, especially with so many different religions in the world.

that's silly, of course evolution can be denied, so can cheese, air and anything else you can think of.....whether there is any logic to the denial is another discussion entirely.

Sandy has it right here. A belief in any religion rather cancels out any attempt to believe in Evolution. The two things are entirely incompatible because all religions have their own creation myths, and none of them involve any science whatsoever.
Many religions now acknowledge though that their creation myths are myth or allegory or fable and have no problem with accepting evolution. The Church of England is one such, also Baptists and, i believe the RC's. There actually aren't that many mainstream creationist religious groups in the UK
Divebuddy, that was before the 'Greens' and poliicians got to play with it.
Probably the difference is between natural selection and Godly selection. As for the last few lines in your question, there are nobel prize winner scientists who do not believe in Evolution. Would you include them among those who you believe have never studied it?
Which Nobel Laureates had you in mind? Not that it matters, any one brilliant Scientist can have all sorts of surprisingly crazy views. It doesn't particularly matter, as what matters is usually what most scientists think, and usually those with strange ideas are commenting on things that are outside their field of study. Evolution is by now as much a scientific fact as Gravity.
KP, If people have to believe in evolution it is because they don't understand it, either because they haven't tried or are just not capable...yet.
The big advantage of religion over science is that you can choos the bits that you like and ignore the stuff you don't like. When you jump out of a plane at 10,00 feet you know damn well you are going to need a parachute whether you like them or not.
I idly watched a programme on tv this morning (I was too lazy to search for another programme) David Attenborough was there showing me all these strange animals. Some of them lived in the most unlikely places and had adapted to various environments. It seems to me that life can evolve in the strangest places and with the strangest shapes which adapts them to their particular surroundings. I ended up watching with great interest. Evolution is a wonderful thing.
I don't think you're going to get a lot of response here from people who actually believe that the theory of evolution is total baloney, so google Ray Comfort or Ken Ham - or even Keyplus. Lots of information to be had there - albeit wonky.
Einstein never accepted Quantum Mechanics. It didn't make Relativity wrong.

That is the difference between science and religion. In science a idea stands on its merit alone, regardless of who came up with it. If it completely fits all the observations bar none then it is accepted.

Religion is based on personality cults. Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Mohammed. The religious claim that such characters are infallible and thus all things they say are absolute truths beyond question.

It is why science has brought us the great advancements while religion brings only ignorance.
An interesting philosophical point Beso, that people who teach religion are actually teaching ignorance..
