why use txtspk?...

Just looking at another post where they have written Ure instead of Your - I might put YR, but why use 3 letters when for only one more, you can type the whole word?

LOL
He he.
I genuinely believe since the arrival of home pc's, people actually dont know how to spell as well as they once did as everything gets corrected for you without you having to pay attention.

Also, some people are just really lazy.
I'm afraid some students always write like this, even in exams. I'm sure an examiner somewhere has had to read "2B or not 2B, dat is de question" in English exams.
I have mentioned before that I once received a letter from a parent complaining that the set homework was "2 hard 4 my son".
I think on here though some posters post via a phone and use text speak out of habit.
I don't like it because it's a lazy form of writing.
Received a text from one of my daughters and couldn't understand it at all.
Had to phone her to decipher.
I don't like abbreviations either, usually I have no idea what they mean.
Don't really know what lol means. Is it lots of love, lots of laughs or something else? I don't know.
lol= lots of love?
rofl/*Titterfarkle*, missprim
laugh out loud Miss Prim
I see my 1mfao has been filtered out
Factor,
re: "2 hard 4 my son"
I would suggest that it is the son himself impersonating his parents trying to excuse his missing homework.
Very funny factor, no idea what 1mfao and rofl/*Titterfarkle* mean.
It's like a foreign language.:-)
If you're sending a long text and it goes over X amount of characters then you get charged for 2 texts.
coz it's like cool, innit
I first misread ROFL as a reference to Rolf Harriss but it is Roll on Floor Laughing (I hope).
As for the other one, it is Laugh my .... off

lol..gen....factor now has bemused look on face!
I thought that too, gen2, so I rang home and mum said it was my fault as "I wasn't learning him proper"
I hate the 'nahmeen' way of speaking too, and saying 'yeah?' after every few words.
