to what?
because they do.
What may be perfectly straight for some, may not necessarily be so for others.
They bend over backwards to assist.
Why do you think they avoid giving a straight answer ? (If they do.)

I think if straight answers were given to some of the questions asked,
AB would need a bigger Naughty Step.
I like my naughty step, LJ finished my cushion
Many straight answers are given that are totally impractical though meant with the best intentions.

'String them up'

'Throw away the key'

'Ban all (insert word of choice)'

are just three.

Straight they may be but unworkable.

"Send them back" is another one, Mamyalynne
The majority of questions seem to be in Crosswords and Q&P and the answers are nearly always straight answers. I assume you are referring to posts in News section, Talbot

If you can't work that one out I'm not sure it was worth your while posting, Wolfy.

On this thread only Prudie posted a reasonale answer to the OP http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1486239.html
I posed a simple question on that thread in an attempt to getting answers that actually addressed the OP ... but no, just more irrelevant drivel.

reasonable ^ not reasonale ... whatever that means
I await Prudie's contribution. Why do you think the rest are drivel ?
oh that one.....no wonder I had no idea what you were going on about......
It occurs to me that if the OP{ question contained sufficient context then one might expect less frivolous answers. As for AOG's thread, I suspect the answer is that legally we can't deport them; and that, that is known. We are all EU citizen's presently, and all have excess human rights. It's a well covered subject.
It occurs to me that if the OP's ...
Like I ^%£$&£^%*&£%E well typed.

If you have read the thread you would or at least should know.
Well it's nice to see you at least give us a straight answer. Well done.
