Mr Lammy is correct in what he says, but that does not make him right. Perhaps he would like to take his stance a step further, and be available as a mugging victim, to avoid a poorer person going through the trauma. Or maybe some of us agree?
maybe the authorities should take this matter to its natural conclusion and decriminalize shoplifting, and leave retailers to pursue their losses through the civil courts........
what a prat - theft is theft and should be pursued - we end up paying for the losses through higher pricing or rates of interest. Typical ill-thought through policy from a so-called Labour grandee, worthy of a UKIP member actually. Perhaps there's a future for him therefore.
How ridiculous. A crime is a crime. You can't sentence the perp according to the effect it has. Should a murderer receive a shorter sentence if there are fewer people who care about the victim?

So I am sure he will be making sure he is available - perhaps on his way out of Fortnum and Masons, where most of his constituents can probably not afford to do their weekly shop.
well, you get mugged anyway in Fortnums as they empty your wallet with their prices!
