it's Whitehall Court. The hotel and National Liberal Club are part of it. It's waaay back nearly opposite the London Eye, though, miles from Tower bridge.

Tower of London?
Tower of London?
Could you provide a picture?
I've fallen for a wind up, haven't I?

do you mean Blackfriars bridge rather than Tiower bridge? There is one there.
Nice one Chuck!
Looking which way? If looking upstream, towards the start, then it must be the Tower. Can't think of anything like that on the South of the river; Southwark Crown Court is a) reddish and b) nobody's idea of a mansion and c) lacking round turrets, but apart from that, it is more or less in the right area, looking downstream !
this is the one I meant, the City of London School

There seemed to be a lot of pictures of an elderly lady in a white hat too - anyone know who she is ?

it would be on the northern side of the river but I may have got mixed up exactly where it was located as it was from one of the overhead shots on the tv and I only caught a quick glimpse of it , a bit like a castle if that helps
I'm not falling for it a second time, Folly my dear.
Three suggestions - The Custom House, right by The Tower, or Vintners' Hall, a bit upstream, or Somerset House. All sort of fit your description. You can see pictures on Google images or on their respective Wikipedia pages.
LOL, Hopkirk, I suspect you may be right.
Question Author
thank you to those who gave suggestions but it was not anything like them, the turrets were rounded and came to a point similar to those on Balmoral or Glamis castle and it may have been a bit higher than the other buildings too.
this really is a serious question and not a joke
Have you looked at a picture of The Tower of London?

It sounds like it.
what side of the river, north or south? (Tower of London is on the north side.)
Question Author
I have found it again on I player on the highlights ,it must have been before Tower bridge
at 44.56 just after the War Horse on top of the Theatre ,the Royal Barge goes under a bridge, it is just behind the bridge and there is a large building with a green roof to the left of it
i know the buildings down there, but can't think which one, apart from as others have said The Tower of London.
