What are the different types of golf membership?

Does anyone know the different types of memberships that golf clubs offer such as country and ordinary etc. and what do they mean?

Every club is free to make its own rules.

However, 'country membership' is a class of membership which is only open to people who live more than a certain distance (typically 40 or 50 miles) from the club. Many clubs require that 'country members' must already be full members of an EGU-affiliated club (and have paid their subscriptions to the EGU and to their county union). There may also be additional restrictions, limiting the number of rounds played per visit, or per year.
