Decades ago when I was small and collected stamps, I remember very large, colourful stamps, often triangular, which were much more exciting than the boring old European ones.
Does anyone know what countries they would have come from? This would have been 1940s, 1950s.

Looking at my stamp album, I have triangular stamps for Monaco and San Marino - probably around the 50s.
The book itself has pictures of triangular stamps from Costa Rica and Hungary.

Thanks Hazlinny, Monaco and San Marino certainly ring bells. I'll have a look on ebay.

the classic triangular stamps are actually from
Cape of Good Hope, from the 1880's,
many are available on ebay, for a lot less then what they are worth.

Yes, kujawski, but are they pretty? (Not the best criteria for stamp-buying, I know, but I'm chasing a 50-year-old memory of amazingly attractive stamps).
