Knitting help.

I am knitting my first big piece. I have made hats and mittens previously but this is my first item of clothing.
Its a hooded cardigan and I have just finished knitting the back and I'm at shape solders. It says 'cast off 10 sts in patt at beg of next 2 rows'.
Can someone put this in laymans terms for me please? Don't want to get it wrong and mess up the lot.
Thanks

Cast off 10 stitches, following any pattern you may be doing, work to the end of the row. At the beginning of the next row, do the same thing, and work across the row again.
Good luck
