Does anyone know of any shops which sell one-off ball gowns that would be ideal from a prom? I live in Essex but shops in Essex or London would be fine

Pilchard beat me to it, I too was going to suggest Debenhams, also if you have a TK Max nearby try them - they sometimes have georgeous designer evening / prom dresses at hugely reduced prices!

You could try Monsoon they do many nice dresses there is one in lakeside.
