When is best to buy a laptop

I am looking to buy a laptop with my sister as a gift for our mum for xmas. When is the best time to get a bargain?
I have the money now so if its best to just get one when I see one then I can. Or would it be better to get soemthing nearer christmas? I really dont need anything too fancy - It is only going to be used for work and internet use. So like a 1gb Ram and 60gb hard drive would be plenty. My budget can be as much as £300 but tbh £200-£250 would be better as I will need to buy extended warranty etc... as she has a habit of breaking computers! lol

Thanks for your time

May as well buy it now, they keep dropping in price for the equivalent spec computer so waiter for a better one to be available for a lower price is a never ending wait.

Check the dell website... you'd be surprised, I've bought a few of the ones on the link below and have been pleasantly surprised by them for the money.

Oh the extended warranty normally only covers hardware faults... not faults caused by user error.
