Shops making you buy extra things

I bought a Wii Fit from Game yesterday and they made me buy the silicone cover for £15 otherwise they wouldnt sell me the Wii Fit.

I said i didnt want it but they said well if you dont buy that you cant have the Wii Fit. Im sure they do this cos they know that Wii Fit's are so scarce. My Brother bought one the other week from there and they made him buy the warranty for it.

I dont think this is fair, is there anything I can do? I know i could just have said no but I shouldnt have to buy things i dont want.

Thanks. AliFlump

was it priced as a seperate item or were they only selling as a package

to be honest they can decide who they will sell to and when but id be tempted to go to the local papers, or the national if a large company. :)

Yes good luck with that(!)

These things are so rare that they could say hop on one leg and whistle the theme tune to Cagney and Lacey and people will do it.

If you don't buy it with the cover, someone else will.

The shop can't make you buy any extra item, they have a door, use it and walk out of the shop.

But they can either sell packages (which this isn't as they are priced separately) or say the wii-fit is at a discounted price only available if you buy the cover (but if this is the case you should have the chance to pay slightly more for the wii-fit and not buy the cover)

P.S. is it fun? they look it.

My friend bought hers from Amazon.de without all this hassle.

I certainly would not have bought any extras.

Question Author

Thanks for your answer redcrx & chuckfickens. I shall ignore the others.

I know that i could have said no (as i said in my question) and not had it but im not letting them deprieve me of something i want, just wondered if there was anything that ppl knew about it.

And yes it is much fun, espec the games but i like the yoga. Much better than any game of boring golf.

If they went through separately, could you return the cover in a few days for a refund?

i always buy things online nowadays.
That way you're protected by the distance selling clause. It doesn't matter what the reason is, you can always return something so easily.
It's sad really I suppose. I can't stand it when they try and make out you're a moron if you don't take out a warranty!
