Selling vinyl LP's on Ebay

I'm thinking of getting rid of some old LP's on Ebay. Can anyone suggest the best way to parcel them up so they don't get broken in the post?
Many thanks in advance.

You can buy thick cardboard mailing pockets for shipping vinyls.

Bubble wrap them and put inside stiff card.

And send via Recorded Delivery/RMSD in case of transit damage.

Thanks for that squarebear.
I live in the sticks. Can you advise me where I might buy them on my next trip to civilisation?

You can make them yourself if you don't have a post office/stationers nearby:

Recorded delivery gives no extra insurance whatsoever - it only means it must be signed for on delivery.

Thanks for that Ethel.
I wouldn't send valuables by recorded delivery.
I don't anticipate Mr O's collection of tat (SingalongaMax etc) to sell for much!

Although Recorded Delivery items should be signed for, as a postman, I can tell you that this is not always necessarily the case. They are treated as normal mail and not tracked. So they are consequently not worth the extra expense over a normal postage rate.Nobody apart from the postman knows how many RDs he has. Special Deliveries on the other hand have to be signed for by the postman before taking out on delivery and are traceable from the beginning to the end of the journey. It is potentially a sackable offence if the postman loses or misdelivers a 'Special'. It'll probably cost about an extra fiver to send an LP this way.

was interested to see comments by GEEMAC regarding recorded delivery items. I always thought they were tracked as in the past I have gone onto the royal mail site & checked if a letter or package had been delivered by entering a series of letters & numbers or am I going senile?

Going back to the subject of recorded deliveries not being signed for, I find our postman...oops...postal delivery officer...will ring our bell for a signature and usually I answer and sign for the package.

Sometimes, however, if I'm in the bathroom for example, when I can't get to the door in time, he'll then proceed to post the package through the letter box and not hang around for a signature.

I guess this is common practice and so I never use recorded delivery - it isn't worth the extra postage, is it?
