Credit Refund Argument

I placed a food order with a company for Xmas. I've used them once before. Some of the veg wasn't very good so I emailed them a photo and they replied saying they would credit me £10 which I thought was very generous. Last night I decided to place another order as they had some good deals. The min order is £24.99. My order was £29. I then keyed in the credit code and it said sorry you've gone below minimum order. Was getting late so I left it till today. Anyway after a few emails they are saying that I have to spend £34.99 in order to use the credit- in other words buy extra stuff I don't need, which would make the credit completely pointless. Surely I should be allowed to used it on my original order of £29 ?? Or am I wrong.

yes, I think you should.
I would be arguing that its a specific credit personal to you rather than a generic credit

They won't budge but I think they are completely in the wrong. Their website says min order £24.99. I've done that. I've then added credit code that THEY gave ME. It then makes it drop below the min. So they want me to keep adding which basically means what I add cancels out the credit!
Sorry, but I kind of see their point....they have a minimum order of 24.99 - so they expect you to spend 24.99 of YOUR money....which you're not doing by using the £10 credit code. I'm not saying it's right or wrong....but can see their argument.
But her order was over £24.99 ginge.
BOO....yes, I know...but it's their rules! Look, I wouldn't be happy either and I would tell them that they've just lost a customer...
Yup, me too.
Simplest solution would be to save up the credit until such time as you make an order for £34.99.
Yes you are wrong, just spend the required amount and get your refund .

But I don't need to spend that amount lol
Well wait until you do need that amount.
It's easy to spend a tenner on stuff you definitely will need and won't get out of date - washing powder, shampoo, shaving stuff....
Frozen food ?
Is the delivery or postage costs included in this minimum £24.99? It strikes me that if it is, then the company could be approaching a loss of profit by giving you the OK to use it on an order below £34.99.

I appreciate that if this is the case, they should have made you aware of it but the reality is that postage and delivery charges don't come cheap nowadays.
I'd do what hc suggests and buy household products.
Oops, should have said an order of £29 rather than an order below £34.99.

It's a food only website and I just don't have any freezer space spare for the extra items otherwise I'd have done what you all suggested x

Oh and delivery is on top of that £24.99
What company is this so I can avoid?

Muscle Foods. They do meat and fish, and apparently protein shakes etc . The meat was actually very good.
