Over the past year,I've acquired almost 2 dozen vintage brooches. I want to store them so they are covered yet easily accessible. Any ideas of multi-compartment storage...that also looks nice?

how about a jewellers tray for rings - then you can just push the brooch into it the slot.
I think Lidl are selling compartmentalised storeage boxes this week. Will try and find you the link

After I posted my Lidl link I remembered I have about 3 storage boxes in my work shop brand new and doing nothing. They originally held different size worm drive clips, assorted washers, assorted small nuts, bolts and washers, split rings etc. I don't even really need them but can't give them away here. :-(

@islay...that may work for small broooches, but some of mine are quite large and have dangly bits.
@ retro...that's the idea...but I want something a bit more girly...;-)
@ Vulcan...these have put me in the right direction. Much better that the faux leather ones I've been seeing.
Retro, I have a couple of containers like that also:They are labelled "Odds and ***"...You never know what you'll find in them.
I didn't know that clods of grass and soil was an expletive.
You're only allowed one sod , any more and you're off.
pasta, you can easily make a brooch display board from a picture frame, a cushion, an old sweater.....

Men who are more practical (ducks) and have better things to spend money on (beer) will get their bits and bobs boxes (note Stuey no stars!!) and cover them with a bit of blue baize from the local pool hall table using pritt stick.
Aren't we just adoreable and so adaptable. :-)

@woof...I like the idea of a display board...but it would need to have a clear cover as old brooches can be prone to tarnishing. Will keep that in mind.
Stuey
That may be the case across the ditch. My sister near L.Simcoe has S.O.D. farms all around her. Holland Landing area. Loads of mozzies also ;-(

Lol!! Retro!
Perhaps you could pin them to an old jumper you never wear and use it as your brooch 'storer'. Keep it hung up in wardrobe for easy access.
ooo ooo, if you do the keyholder thing, get a string of battery operated led lights and put them in around the edge, you can get them on Amazon with a timer/remote. would make a lovely wall decoration...might do it myself :)
pasta -put 'jewelry display cabinet' into ebay and search under 'retail display. There are loads of ideas and if you look on 'all' the categories you may pick up a second hand one. Failing that Lakeland Plastics do jewelry pouched that are made with anti tarnish material
Here's how I store mine:) http://i66.tinypic.com/iyh5wo.jpg
