My son asked what the red 'i' in Lidls represented, if anything. Does anyone know? Thanks

Nothing in Wiki about the logo. There is usually a reason behind the design but I can't fathom this one out. Tell your son to email Lidl and ask them. Bet he gets a reply

Wiki says that is a person's name.

Nothing, as far as I can see. I would say merely an attempt to make the logo more eye-catching than it would have been if all four letters were in the same typeface.

Hi wolf63. It's not so much about the name but the red i is at an angle and he wondered if was meant to represent something. It looks a bit like a dog begging. Cheers

Cheers Jackdaw33. You are probably right. Amazing what you look at whilst sitting in a car when it's chucking it down!

That's a good idea hc4361. It's not earth shatteringly important but one of those daft things in life that niggle at you. Will get him to email in the morning.
:-)
Ask him what the Amazon logo means, if he doesn't already know.
And a boy has to go right to the top with his need-to-know query

I always thought the "I" looks like its pushing a shopping trolley? The trolley being the letter L lol x
See if he can find out about the mysterious random 'S' while he's about it.
It seems to be spreading from Tescos.
I've always assumed that it was just some marketing person's idea of something eye-catching.
google ... the ingenious use of the letter i in logo design .
