.....craftily inserting me into an Amazon Prime 'trial' that I hadn't asked for.
And not giving me the facility to unsubscribe to it on my account.

Should this occur, here's what to do:
Log into your amazon account
then google 'contact amazon uk' and you'll get a list of returns, one of which has a url like his one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/contact-us/general-questions.html

Then work through the questions to the 'call me back' bit. Get them to call you back straight away and play merry hell with them. Insist the trial is removed immediately and moan on about how wrong it is that this facility was not available on your account.

Sadly the earth is now inherited by the r-sey, which means me.

This happened to me as well, I didn't notice until I checked my credit card statement. Rang them and they refunded the money straight away...
You're Rosey ?
>>>'trial' that I hadn't asked for.

They probably did ask you, you just did not notice.

Rather sneakily when you buy something they have an option which asks you if you want to take a trial of Prime, but it is set ON as a default.

If you don't turn it off then you get the trial.

Which is why we should all read what is on the screen before just clicking OK.

Thanks VHG - I can recall the point at which this happened, which was thusly:
Purchase came with free super saver delivery, choose this at checkout (OK)
Next screen has stuff about selecting Prime, with button bottom right saying 'no thanks, proceed to my....'
Which being daft I assumed meant checkout - whereas it enrolled me for Prime.

***.

Bar keepers?
I used the free trial period month and then stopped it before the paying bit started. It gave option to try it or not.
I used the trial period over Xmas to get all my stuff posted quickly -easy process to cancel in the New Year as I'm sure I got an email reminding me they would take out £11 or so and the date they were taking it -by law they have to so maybe the email went in your spam box?
I deliberately chose it to get fast delivery near Christmas and then found it easy to cancel my membership. The process didn't seem crafty to me but I have seen some sites (trainline) where you have to be careful not to sign up for unwanted extras
I use the free trial every time they offer it - four times so far :) I cancel it a few days later but still get the full month.

I love Amazon and I see they are now going to pay 'proper' UK tax. They don't have to, they have done nothing illegal.
We got free Amazon prime with our tv.
For ever, ummmm? What tv? Where did you buy it from?
I Love Amazon too. I buy loads of stuff, so does the whole family, and it arrives quickly and the returns process if you need is it very good -best thing is that Customer Service has people who can speak very good English and don't seem to be reading of pre written cards.
Ummmmm I think means Prime Instant video not the postal service.
Mosaic, Easiest way to sort this out is to ring Amazon customer care on 0800 496 1081
It's an LG smart TV that we bought from Amazon. He bought it, I just asked him and he said we get it for the life of the tv. I didn't know this but apparently we can watch films on Amazon prime. I just know how to turn it on and off.
Oh, not the Prime free next day delivery then? :(
you also get free one day delivery on all stuff ordered from Amazon if its eligible (not everything is)
hc -its all in the same package - the free postage is not that good as lots of things are not eligble for it
I wish there was the option for just free postage. I don't really want Prime video, etc. And now Amazon does free delivery only on amounts of £20 or more. A rip off when what you want is £19.99.
I rarely pay postage. Most of the stuff I order is free delivery. Although I did order some hello kitty car stickers for my son's girlfriend. 99p but over 3 quid in postage.
