Buying Iphone In Usa To Use In Uk?

So I have an iPhone 5, on sim only with O2 out of contract, if I buy an iPhone 6 when I am in the states, is it a simple case of putting my sim into it and hey presto it'll work as my current phone or is there some things I need to be aware of? Thank you.

I have got a feeling that there are warranty issues with buying a phone in the US to use in the Uk. I think if anything goes wrong, UK Apple won't handle it, it has to go back to the US
