I only really notice this at Christmas - don't get me wrong, getting into the festive spirit is a good thing but constant carols from September through December is just TOO much :o\
Yes, the Carols will probably start next week!!!  Absolutely hate supermarket music!!!
I hate supermarkets - period!
Probably because Tesco does more research, and they know that compulsory music gets on people's nerves.
anything to do with the cost of a performance licence?

This never used to annoy me at all until my local Asda decided to turn up the volume of their music.   It is sometimes unbearable and when you go past their music section it is far too loud.  I just have to get out of there before I go mad !!!

It's probably the manager's own choice. Where I work we get subjected to Coldplay all day... I keep expecting to find customers hanging from the ceiling from sheer depression
Actaully.. to be boring and factual, if done properly it will move people through the store at the desired pace, faster the music, the faster people shop.  Proven fact.
I quite like music in the supermarket. Unless its something like Celine Dione "All By Myself" which was on in asda one night when i was indeed - all by myself. I felt really sad buying my meals for one that night let me tell u!!
