I'm out in the sticks and wonder if the shops are open as normal today?

hello Maydup, happy easter

i can tell you that the co-ops are open, but i cannot speak for other shops

Thanks Excel. I'm not one for shopping and don't want to waste my journey! We have a village co-op so I might just head there.
Tesco is closed on Sunday but open today.
I checked a range of supermarkets and they are.

But for the rest, it would depend I think. Perhaps you should check out your favourites' websites for info ?

I couldn't seem to see specific opening times online, just general ones. I think I'll risk it as I always have the co-op.
Nearly all shops are open today but the major supermarkets might have somewhat restricted hours. (e.g. the Sainsbury's I might go to later is closing at 2030 instead of midnight).

I've just checked the websites of Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda & Morrisons. All of them are showing their Easter opening hours for individual stores on the 'Store Locator' part of their websites.
Supermarkets are shut here (wales) on Sunday
Just checked and my local co-op is open. I'm getting an Ocado delivery later today.

Thanks all, i'll be off out then.
Happy Easter
You too Maydup :o)
never mind the shops are the pubs open as normal ?
No, Eddie. I was once working in Yarmouth and left having a pub lunch till the last minute. Found the pub was just about to close. "Council policy", I was told. Religiuos holiday meant they imposed Sunday opening hours on pubs. Booo!
Licencing laws have changed over time though. One would probably need to look up on the Net, or turn up at the pub (or phone call) to know for sure.
Sunday opening hours applied to all pubs in England on Good Friday until the Licensing Act 2003 came into force, Heathfield.
Today isn't a public holiday - the postman has delivered to me today, all the shops are open.
Apologies, I see this question was asked on Friday

Oops! Not fast enough!
Thanks for that, Chris, I can rest easy. Good Friday used not to be a holiday in Scotland, which is why I was taken unawares in Yarmouth at the time. Scotland's reason was that we shouldn't celebrate the death of Christ on the Friday, whereas on the Monday we are able to celebrate His resurrection.
