Daily Mail/Mailon Sunday vouchers at Tesco

Does anyone know if you can use the Tesco giftcard (given away in the Daily/Sunday mail) on Tesco petrol?

If you check the Tesco award and click on 'find out more', it says, quote, 'you can use your £5 Tesco Gift Card as part payment towards your overall grocery shop'. Note the word 'grocery'. I guess that excludes petrol, and tobacco and cigarettes, alas.
