Christmas Lights

Who puts up loads of outside lights and decorations and when will you turn them on? How long does it take you to put them up?

I'd like to get some outdoor lights but I wouldn't know how to put them up properly and neither would my hubby.

We have to have our house decorated on December 1st - which i feel is way too early, but my hubby's birthday is on December 5th and his mum always used to get the house decorated for his birthday and has been known to put her deccies up in the last few days of Novermber.

I'd say it'll take us the best part of 5 hours to get the house fully decorated because we have 3 trees plus lights to put in the windows.

we have a set of light on everyindow at the front of the house but they are on the inside. we put squares on the windows with black tape to make them look leaded and we spray a bit of snow in each square. looks really good with the white lights sparkling on it.
we have a big 8ft tree, we dont put all them trimmings on the ceiling anymore as i feel they are a bit old fashioned. it normally takes me a whole day to get it looking nice. we dont let the kids see it till it is finished though so they go to nannies and we spend the day with xmas music blasting and a chilled drink
