Christmas

Christmas One Off

Maybe I'm a bit strange but would it be a nice idea perhaps next year at Christmas we all, as a nation agreed to only give presents to the children and instead of gifts to adults we all gave something to our favourite charity? Maybe a kind of 'Christmas Aid'? What does AB members think?

I wont give to big charities as the bulk of it doesnt go to the people it is meant to help. Plus these charities should really be govt funded and by us continually giving to them we are taking the onus off the govt. I do a bit of local charity stuff locally and we give the money directly to the people we want to help.

Just ban Xmas full stop lol

cazzz1975 No that's NOT the case eg. there are members of our family who seem to have just about everything under the sun ! And I always think that some pressies I get are just totally wrong for me and a waste of someones time & energy -so why not GIVE something to those who REALLY need basics & not rhe luxury extras rubbish like Celebrations-Qualty Street etc.etc.
I'm certain the recipients of our generosity would appreciate what we give far more than we ever would....

I have always thought it was a great idea.
Also adopting an animal in a Sanctuary.
On year, somone gave me money and I adopted a Donkey. This centre also helps children with health problems. They are taken there for visits to see and ride the animals.
Best thing I ever did.

I've done it for the last 30 years or more.

Makes Christmas a lot more enjoyable.

That's great Ethel -but wouldn't it make a REAL difference if we all as a nation changed or annual habitual purchase of the rubbish I mentioned already and focused instead on those who are unfortunate enough not having what we consider the very basics of life.....

We're doing precisely that this year and making a donation to "Help for Heroes" to assist the rehabilitation of those severely maimed and injured in Iraq and Afghanistan since our government is treating them so woefully.
