I am always disappointed how the lights look on my tree at xmas. I like the little delicate white lights (not the mulitcoloured chunky ones) but no matter which or how many I use, or how long I take to hang them, they always look a bit hit and miss with lots of lights in some places but gaps in other bits!
I have seen some trees in windows where the lights look very organised and wondered if they are on some kind of mesh that you drape over the tree to achieve such a nice uniform effect? If they are attached to a mesh or netting of some kind, is this very noticible when you are close up to the tree?
Does anyone know?

oh tell me about it, i always dread it , when i had to put the lites around the tree, that why i got a fibre optic tree, no hassle, all you do is put your decorations on and switch on,

i think you can use a net lite, just wrap it around your tree, i also saw this net lite which was in the shape of the tree, you just draped it over the tree, i think it was on qvc.

The trees you have seen in the shop windows are 'pre-lit' or fibre optic. So they come with lights already fitted just plug in the tree. The only down side is if the lights become faulty you would have to go out and buy a whole new tree not just some lights as you would otherwise have done.
Im with posiedon, give up and get a fibre optic shivvy. We did a few years ago, much easier.:-))

Fibreoptic isn't what I am after at all.
I will have a real tree but it is the lights that I am after. Maybe I should try the net lights that you suggest posiedon.
Has anyone else used these net lights?

Mine was the same,I put on enough white lights to land a plane safely. Last year I added half the amount in tiny red lights and it was beautiful. Merry Christmas to you and a Happy light tree
