There's a much bigger collider going on above your head right now as high energy cosmic rays hit the atmosphere.

The probability is zero. High energy cosmic ray events, similar to the ones produced by the LHC, happen continuously in our atmosphere and we're still here! Apparently a couple of Americans living in Hawaii have taken out a law suit to prevent the switch-on of the LHC.

Its a good job they built the collider in Europe. The USAs highly litigious society would mean nothing would ever get off the ground.
