PVA glue

I have an old violin which has a crack in the front.........Is there a way to remove remnants of old white PVA glue from the previously repaired crack in in order to properly reglue the item............thanks for any advice.... commoner (Fri 16:10 23/Dec/05)

PVA wood glue is water soluble even after it has been dry for ages, so if you wet it carefully and then keep it damp with a cloth or something for a few hours you should eventually be able to brush it out bit by bit with a small stiff (and wet) brush.
