Weighed in this morning at 14st 3lbs. Last Friday I thought I weighed 14st 9Lbs. Did I misread the scales?

Absolutely it's possible. I was once in a very low calorie diet (Lighter Life) and the men's weight losses were amazing. Men, generally speaking, need more calories than women so when they cut down their intake then they see big losses.
Mmmmmm! Possible.....but in your case ( gauged on your posts life style), very unlikely....very unlikely indeed.

Admittedly, I've a sedentary lifestyle but the diet seemed fairly austere. If Douglas is right, and I need new glasses, then it was a lot of effort for little reward.
I seem to go up and down like a yo-yo from one day to the next. I would think 6 lbs was quite an achievement, but it may not all be fat.
It could be fluid retention which can weigh a lot.
Ive been doing the 3:4 ( instead of 5:2) diet and i lost half a stone from monday to thursday.

Put all but a pound back on over a the weekend when i was a a festival !!!!
You might, but you'd definitely feel different. So do you feel - floaty? I'm not being sarcastic, I experienced that sensation when I began losing weight three years ago.

I don't get much exercise and do no strenuous work so I haven't felt 'floaty' or dizzy.
I'm not sure what the second weighing showed but the 1st, on the 3rd July was correct and I see I'm now down to 13st 13 1/2.

Getting on the scales at different times of the day can give different readings

Only if you overindulge. I believe the Japanese consider it a great treat and most of them are like bean poles.
Hmm. Keep your gimlet eye on that sandy. If you have not been dieting and have lost 6lb Think back to what you may have done differently this week. I find that if I cut right back on the shiraz and a few pints of mild I lose about 3lb. (Not very often I do it though.)
I did once go on a whisky diet for 2 weeks and lost 3 days.

I have been dieting. I've devised one that works a treat and I'm happy to share it.
Breakfast: An orange washed down with a cup of tea. Elevenses: A banana and more tea. Lunch: Bowl of porridge with 4 or 5 prunes, or apricots, and tea.
Dinner: Piece of fish, steamed vegetables, 3 or 4 small spuds. And yet more tea.
Trish tells me it's fairly normal during the first few weeks of dieting sandy, as the body gets rid of excess body fluids,after which it slows down to 1-2 pounds a week.By the way Im very partial to Spam especially with a salad though it's not as cheap as it used to be.
