I recently thanked LazyGun for providing a link to an excellent book called 'Flat Earth News'. LazyGun replied that although he'd read it, he hadn't mentioned it on AB.

So I have done some digging, and found out that I got the link through jno, who posted this thread:

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1296774.html

In his question, he included this link:

http://www.headoflegal.com/2013/12/04/booker-hemming-and-the-forced-caesarian-case-a-masterclass-in-flat-earth-news/

which mentioned the book which I subsequently downloaded.

I urge everyone on the News section who is even vaguely interested in how news is made, delivered and distorted to read this book. I have just finished it, and feel that my eyes have been opened.

Thank you jno. The book is astonishing.

Oops...apologies jno.

The book is Flat Earth News, by Nick Davies:

Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

Basically, it's a thoroughly good read - and has completely altered the way I now read news stories.
You can pick it up on amazon here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flat-Earth-News-Award-winning-Distortion/dp/0099512688

I'll add it to my reading list.

Cheers AB Editor. My link was to the (cheaper) Kindle edition...but I forget, there are people who actually like to purchase 'real' books
I read this a few years ago during my undergrad. It's an excellent book, very well-researched and extremely convincing. There's a more recent lecture by Nick Davies on googletalks which summarises the book pretty well for those who have too much to read on their shelves or don't want to buy the book for whatever reason.
