Help With Riddle?

in the morning when i rise i open my eyes,t
tho' i ne'er sleep all night
if i wake e'er so soon, i lie here till noon
and pay no regard to the light,
i have loss i have gain, i have pleasure, i've pain,
i'm punished with many a stripe,
to dimish my woe, i burn friend and foe,
and my evenings i end with a pipe,
i travel abroad, an ne'er miss my road.
unless i am met with a stranger,
if you come in my way, which you very well may
you will always be subject to danger
i am chaste i am young, i'm lusty and strong.
to court i go on no or bow.
yet frail and fantastic as they
i live in short time and die in my prime,
and are minted by all who possess me
i'll tell you no more if i do i am sure
you'd very easily guess me.

A wasp comes to mind..'pain''stripe'..the 'minted'+'stripe'=hum-bug'..just thinking on my feet and slightly lateral..

altho i offer no explanation for the 'stripe' part -
or maybe 'digestion' (i'll let YOU work out the 'stripe' bit!!!!)
