Sorry no link as I read it the other day but...

Why have the Leave campaign once again said they will not have Nigel Farage on the negotiating committee for Bretix?

He is after all a EU MP and has been relatively consistent in his campaign (unlike some of the official leave).

Surely he is someone who deserves to be in there?

Hes an excellent speaker, as to a good negotiator who knows..but he should be there in some capacity thats for sure
Too honest! He frightens the life out of all of them - and always has!
thats true....watch his performances on Youtube in Brussells
The UK does not have a part in the negotiations.
The EU Commision meet without the UK and decide on the guidelines for us to leave. They will then inform us of the conditions and we are forced to accept whatever they offer. We can try to get a few concessions but we can not get anything that is not within the guidelines. This is all set out in the EU treaty. We knew all this before we decided to leave.
We will be lucky if we are allowed to remain in the EEA (European Economic Area) if we are allowed it will certainly be on condition we allow full free access to the UK for all citizens of the EEA to come and work here.
The City of London is finished as Europe's premier financial transaction center as it will be outside the EU. Financial services are/were a huge export cash earner with estimates that it earned up to 40% of our entire income from the EU. The international banks will move to Paris or Frankfurt much to the delight of the French and Germans. HSBC has already announced plans to move its entire European Division to Paris, with the loss of 1,000 UK jobs.
Whilst I hope all that is wrong but fear some may turn out to be right I think there's a good chance New-Judge will counteract most or all of that eddie. Anyway, we need to come to terms with where we are
Still peddling your pro-EU bull-***, I see, Eddie.
Might be a good thing for Farage and UKIP to give the negotiations a swerve, even if he was invited to play a part.
Read this it explains the Exit process, there is no room for Farage in it
https://fullfact.org/europe/how-eu-works-leaving-eu/
His Euro MPs have been told to pack their bags and will have no part in the process, the only UK commissioner Lord Hill has resigned with immediate effect and is not being replaced.
Eddie, I repeat, this is not about the EU Commission. Do you ever bother to read other people's posts - or look at the links they provide?
Naomi- isn't eddie saying that in practice there is no significant role for a negotiating team since the EU decides on our exit terms?
I'm not saying I agree or disagree (in fact we need to be clear about what sort of outcome we want so we can seek to influence and do some negotiation)- I'm just trying to understand what the difference is between you and eddie on this
^^ That is exactly what I am saying, if you read the link I posted it explains the exit process clearly. The EU commission will meet without the UK and decide the framework and guidelines for our exit. We have NO input as to what conditions they offer, and very little freedom to try to vary the conditions they do offer. We have really upset them by deciding to leave even though we have been offered better conditions than any other EU state has, so I expect them to punish us by offering very harsh conditions.
fiction-factory.// isn't eddie saying that in practice there is no significant role for a negotiating team since the EU decides on our exit terms?//

Eddie has his wires crossed. He is talking about the EU Commission but this thread is about a cross-party committee that Farage is being excluded from. Shameful really, considering that without Farage there would never have been a referendum. .
usual old pony from Eddie.
Eddie, // I expect them to punish us by offering very harsh conditions. //

That's unrealistic - not to mention pessimistic. Europe will do what is in its best interests - and it is not in their best interests to do that.
I'm assuming eddie means there is no need for such a cross party committee as the EU will decide our terms for Brexit rather than consulting/negotiating.
In reality though I think there is a need for us to have a view on what we want and there will be some consultation between the EU and us as a clean exit is best for everyone (unless EU wants to be deliberately awkward)
//there will be some consultation between the EU and us as a clean exit is best for everyone //

Of course.
Because he is not part of the establishment, they haven't forgiven him yet for forcing them to give us a referendum.
In reality the EU have to negotiate. BMW VW and Merc for starters will see to that.

They export to us far more than we export to them. Our exprts to the EU dropped again last year so thise that have sense, ie the Germans, wil ensure we canall move forward with reasonably friendly terms.

I they dont then tarrifs work both ways and they will be the biggest losers
If whats left of the eussr have any brains (hmmm)..then theyd get rid of junkers, and schulz, tusk, adolf merkel (wishful thinking), the main culprits that caused this in the first place, and then get in some people with less empirical and megalomaniacal ideals and sort things out...

It's not so much the exit negotiations as it is the negotiations with other nations and TBH there will be some negotiating with the commission. They might try but wouldn't get far if they decided to be putative in their plan as we could just say no. We may then lose the trade deal but so would they.

For every % point they add to our tariffs we add the same but go over a curtain amount and we add another for good measure.

Trade is a two,way street.

1. Free movement - anyone UK citizens in an EU country now is allowed to stay under the same terms as now. Any EU citizen in the UK now is allowed to stay in the UK under the same terms as now. That safeguards those already here and there.

2. Negotiate new movement terms from now on.

3. If they do not give us a favourable or at least comparable trade deal we find new markets and add a couple of % points to their imports.

3. If they want our help in (well just about anything) they come to us with a deal that is good and reasonable. They are obviously bigger than us but we don't have to go cap in hand and cowtow to them.
