Let's hope they were leaving.

Unfortunately they weren't.

//All those on board the rigid-hulled inflatable boat are now being looked after by the UK Border Force. //
I don't know how true this is, it was told to me by an ex pat in Malta but apparently any boats that turn up there are forwarded straight it Italy.
*to
So what unsafe country were they fleeing from then? Or did it float round from Syria?
Only the tip of the iceberg, it had to come.

Do hope that they are sent straight back to France, or isn't that allowed while we are in the EU?
Rather than let these poor people risk their lives on the cruel sea could they not be admitted and held securely until their claims for asylum were processed?
Question Author
How many would you like us to admit, sandyRoe?
What is wrong with them staying in France sandyRoe?
Sandy...that would be the humanitarian response, not always popular here on AB.
Question Author
Okay, Mikey the humanitarian. How many would YOU like us to admit?
All of them. Those who failed to secure asylum would be returned.
Do we really want to see the bodies of children washed up on our beaches?
Question Author
sandyRoe, All 5000 of them? And where would we return the failed asylum seekers to? France?
Question Author
And what about those who arrive in Calais subsequently? Them too?
Baldric must know how the Anglo-Saxons felt when the first Viking longboats hove into view.
I'm sure most of us have sympathy for the genuine asylum seekers but it's really not practical to let them in. Where will they stay? Who will feed and clothe them? Doctors, hospitals, schools. We can't do it.

So the true invasion has started,
stand by to repel Boarders!
Unfortunately the more you let in the more that will come risking not only their own lives but those of their children. Some of them may be fleeing terror and tyranny from Syria but they are not fleeing it from France
If they are asylum seekers then they can claim asylum in France.
