Male Cleanliness

Some time ago I had a male friend who said that I was the only person he knew that bathed everyday. I wasnt surprised as he wasnt the cleanest person i knew at the time. I also had another male friend who bathed every second or third day but was never smelly or dirty. However I recently mentioned to a couple of (male) friends that I bath everyday (it was during a conversation about saving water on a metre) and they were both surprised that daily bathing was something I participated in. I also bought my son up to bath everyday. As a child my father only allowed me one bath a week and even when I started work as a gardener and came home stinking of sweat and dirt he still only allowed me one bath a week, believing that I could somehow wash my natural body oils away. When I left home I bathed EVERYDAY, and have done so since.

So what is it with males that we (they) think that its not normal to keep our bodies clean on a daily basis?
I'm genuinly interested to hear others views on this as I cant understand how anyone can go for more than a day without a bath, shower or at least a good washdown. Even when ive been in prison (most ABers will know Im an ex con) and not had access to showers from one week until the next, Ive strip washed every day.

Are males a dirty species?

BTW, Ive never known a female that DOESNT bath/shower everyday.
I too shower at least once a day, after nearly thirty years in the pits it's a hard habit to break.

Not a bad habit, to keep yourself clean, tho Paddy. If Id have been in the pits my father still would have been a "one bath a week is enough" kind of man.
I shower every day, usually after my jog. I am too old these days to call it a run.
I have a shower every morning, another shower if I'm going out in the evening and a bath every night to soak/help mobility with my stupid ankle. Is that OTT? Not on a water meter here so I'm going to fill my boots!
I can remember going to my gran's who lived in the old sinkers cottages and seeing the old tin bath hanging on the outhouse wall and hearing how she had to heat the water for grandad,he was killed in a pit accident in 1935, and dad talking about the excitement when the Pit Head Baths first opened and the men could go home clean though some of the old boys still preferred to go home in their muck and bath at home.
I think your avatar is one of my favourites on here paddywak. Gorgeous dog.
Hubby showers every other day, when he was doing manual work he showered every night. I shower every day.
Sons shower every day, they all work outside.
Maybe also depends on what sort of work you do.
I hate baths, I have to be in a lot of pain to have one and even then I'll usually be out within 20 minutes thinking I've been in there a lot longer. Much prefer showers, but I don't shower everyday. And the times when I have showered everyday, I certainly don't wash my hair - my hair would look awful if I washed it daily.

As far as I'm aware, I'm not too wiffy :c)
sniff......sniff.....cough.....splutter....;-)
Well I am due one tonight... ;oP
Do you have a cold ecclescake?
He was a good old boy lardy he's still missed, most of my avatars are of Max at some stage of his life.

Shower, not a bath in the house, at least once a day, more often than not twice.

I live in a high rise flat and because of the plumbing arrangements cannot have a shower fitted otherwise I'd love to have a shower in the morning and one at night :-(
If my dad were alive he'd be having a dickie fit at the thought....

paddy, lovely looking pup, as is Baldrics pooches in his avatar.
Oh Max when was a baby! He was a looker from the start!
nailit, can't you get so sort of electric shower?if water pressures a problem I believe you can get pump assisted units from places like screw fix.
That was when Max was about 12weeks old,his ears had just started to stand up properly and he was helping us decorate the hall by stripping the paper for us.
"believing that I could somehow wash my natural body oils away."

Years ago I was moaning about having to wear thermals in the winter cos I'm a wuss and a workmate, who hailed from a farm on the Western Isles where men are men and sheep are nervous, remarked that my showering every day washed the protective oils from my skin and on the farm they'd have a bath for special weddings only.
As an very scientific experiment I stopped soaping my legs in the shower for a week, leaving the thermals in the drawer and lo and behold, I didn't seem to feel the cold as much so maybe here's something in it.
I had an electric shower where I used to live because the water pressure was rubbish. It was so good the ex said it was like being pebble dashed!
