Sorry, but you'll have to give us more to go on than that. Which local quiz? The wording of the clue? Number of letters? etc

Having said that, GRACE might be the answer. WG was arguably the most famous cricketer of all time, representing Gloucestershire and England - his brothers EM and Fred Grace also played for England. Coincidentally, there are the three Graces (or Charites) of Greek mythology, nothing to do with cricket at all.
