Sending Crossword Answers Off - Can you send them in pencil

Hi

Completely fedup of using pencil, eraser and then pen, do crossword competitions allow you to send them off in pencil as long as they are readable. Has anybody won a competition when send off in pencil?

This mainly relates to Sir Lancelot and "You" Sunday magazine.

Many thanks in advance.

I read somewhere that they prefer entries completed in black pen.

There is a type of pen (forget the name of it) it is
ink but can be erased.

I photocopy my crossword first and then copy
once I've checked them.

There is site that gives the answers to You and
£1500 comp late on Sunday or Monday

I photocopy mine as well, if you haven't got a copier lots of paper shops will do for about 5p.

I scan mine, and make all my mistakes on that one, then copy the answers to the original, saves all the messing around with tippex etc.,

It takes so long to copy over in pen, and I've still made mistakes when copying, will have to invest in pen as well.

I used MS Word to create a 15X15 blank grid. I use this a template to recreate the desired puzzle grid. I can then complete the crossword without having to write on the original grid at all. When I'm happy with the completed grid I write in the solutions and have a neat and tidy entry every time. The added bonus is that I can enlarge the MS Word document on screen to suit my failing eyesight.
I believe that this has improved my solving times.

I compile the annual quiz for St. Guthlac's Ladies' Guild, the answer sheets are returned to me and I mark them. Probably 10% of the entries I see are written in pencil. As long as they are clear, I don't mind.

I use eraser max too. ASDA often has them on offer. Lovatt's Colossus do NOT accept pencil nor photo copies
What a lot of trouble you go to scan puzzles. I'd be sure to make a simple error copying them out!
