Question Author
Thanks cashier. Can parse toys fine but not Jesus - can you explain please
4 tur(n)key
for 2 what wa sthe answer to clue 9 please?
If 9 was sherry then 2 could be trifle
1subject pronoun from across the water. Je
Work it out almost. Sus(s)
JESES is parsed thus- Je is I ( a pronoun) in France (across the water)
SUS comes from SUS(s)
Re cashiers answer for number one
Subject pronoun = I, from across the water in France = Je
work it out = SUSS almost = sus
Therefore Jesus
Meant Jesus but cashier beat me to it anyway
Question Author
Thanks to you all. Can see Jesus now (well not literally!). The answer to no.9 is star. Turnkey I am also happy with thanks. So just left with Nos 2,5 and 6.
5. Garland?
Question Author
Hi cashier. Thank you for your persistance. I wondered about topiary for that one i.e anagram of pay(settle) and riot. But quite like your garland. Which do you think is better?
Settle down. Land
Rag riot. Gar
Not sure why you would have topiary at Christmas
IMO, garland is better, anag 'rag' + land (settle)
Garland - rag reversed(riot) + land (settle down)
6 can make a case for Midnight but not really sure.
6. Possibly might
Confused noise idn (din)
Question Author
Thanks to you all. You can have a topiary Xmas tree but I agree that garland is definitely better. Would love to fit midnight in but can't work it out!
