Lots to trawl through but should prove worthwhile.
Whitehall?
Clue:
After parking on the corner it's there before you can take a chance.
^ Think of Monopoly Board
In that case it is The Strand

Many thanks everyone - I thought it must refer to the monopoly board but the square between parking and chance is Strand i.e. not The Strand and anyway wrong number of letters - need to be 9. I have actually written Whitehall but can't check as I've given our board away along time ago !! I know there are other Chance squares but what comes before them ? Thanks for your patience !!
I haven't a clue about this but I can provide you with a Monopoly board, if it helps at all:

Before Chance are
The Angel Islington, The Strand, and Regent (or Oxford) Street

Whitehall comes after Electric Company and before Northumberland Avenue.

The Strand = 9 letters and definitely comes after Free Parking and before chance!
Were earlier editions The Strand and later ones Strand
^^^ I've just noticed that the board shown has got real property prices on it but everything still seems to be in the right place!
Chris - thoseare not correct
Old Kent Road and Whitechapel are Brown
The Angel Islington, Euston Road and Pentonville Road are Blue
pall Mall, Whitehall and Northumberland Avenue are purple
Bow Street, Marlborough Street and Vine Street are Orange
The Strand, Fleet Street and Trafagar Square are Red
leicester Square. Coventry Street abd Piccadilly are yellow
Regent Street, oxford Street and Bond Street are Green
Park Lane and mayfair are dark blue
The link provided is how the original monopoly board would look if based on today's property prices - there has been a suggestion on another site that the quiz compiler may have inadvertently based the question on this rather than on the 'real' board ( hence the 9 letter solution)
I think we have to ask ourselves which particular image of the board did the setters look at to set the clue?

One thing I do know is they are very fair people and doubt if it proves incorrect it will impinge on the marking.
Thanks Toorak, I'll take your word for that!
