This morning I had a call from some foreign bod saying he was from talk talk and I had a problem with my computer. I told him I hadn't got a problem and hung up. His number was withheld but I have two friends who withhold numbers so I have to answer them. He rang again and I told him remove my number from his listing. He rang 4 more times before we went out. We came home about 4 hours later. I checked the listing on my phone, he had rung five more times, well there were five withheld numbers.
I decided to ring Talk Talk. They said they hadn't contacted me since November and the calls were nothing to do with them, they were scams. He said he could help me with the problem. He set me. Up to bar all withheld numbers, they go straight to answerphone so friends can still get in touch.
He also gave me a number to type in to bar last number calling in case I get scam calls from listed numbers. He then registered Me on TalkSafe which does away with passwords and relies on voice recognition. I had to keep repeating a phrase until he was happy with the content, so next time I contact them I don't have to remember passwords and security questions.
All this was no extra cost so a good days work done.

Gosh you get better service from TT than I do Caran! I usually spend an hour every time I call them and get nowhere. I can't understand their foreign accent so that is a major inconvenience too.
I also have had the TTScam call last week.

Ann I did struggle with Indian accent, I had to make him repeat most of what he said, but he was very helpful in everything.

I also managed to find an 0800 number when I called them.
My dad has had similar problems. I think he still has TT as his ISP, but he's changed his email to google. I think it must all be linked to the hackers some time ago.
As soon as I hear an Indian voice say, "Am I speaking to Mr X?" I immediately hang up without any comment. If a number comes up, all well and good, I just block it.
Glad you got good service Caran, well done.
I had that good service from TalkTalk too. They are very good. I've lost count of the scam calls, It depends what mood I'm in how I react. Sometimes I let them get as far as saying that I must turn on my computer. Then I say no. Mostly I tell them they are lying, thieving gits and hang up.

I had a call from unavailable this morning. I shouted at them and they hung up. But had no problems with withheld numbers at all.
