Draw the curtains, put the lights on, turn up the heating and snuggle down. Winter is on its way. Went into Morrisons today and the shelves are full of Christmas cakes and mince pies. I think the first week in December would be early enough don't you?

this a good time to talk about birthdays ?? lol
I can't see the point of putting them on sale now. Won't they be out of date by Christmas? I suppose some people might want to eat them now, but I don't know of anyone.
We're still in September so no one's having Christmas parties yet.
Asda sells mince pies all year round (which is great for people who, like me, could happily live on them!)
Morrisons are merely providing the public with what they want, their annual moan about early Christmas goods in the shops.
Watch this space for much harrumphing about Easter in January.
Well my sprouts are on.
Any reference to the above subject should be removed.
Like Chico I often buy Hot X buns out of season. Love them.
Some of us were worried about our sprouts 5 days ago, Marval!

Wouldn't dare buy mince pies as Mr BD makes them for me but only at christmas. Never had a christmas cake as there is only me who would eat it and only me who likes christmas pudding.
Bring on Thanksgiving Day as the American have - it puts a nice barrier in place to Christmas - and is a lovely festival as it involves little commercialism on the way in, other than food, plonk and travel.....

And a birthday, what, where, who and when?
The microwave oven has been a boon for those who miss the recommended start date for sprout simmering.
Four hours on a high setting for each week missed enable them to catch up with the more organised among us.

Forgot about putting the sprouts on. Used to rely on Terry Wogan to remind people to put the sprouts on on Sept 1st. Will have to give OH a dig.
I'll eat Xmas cake if someone offers me a slice but would never think of buying one. Same with Xmas pudding.

Murraymints, Xmas Day.
Yeah.....agree with you, BD....Sad isn't it?....the commercial sell sell sell of Christmas really gives me the right hump and I will have nothing to do with it till late November ( except taking bookings for gigs for Christmas and New Year period ,which I take months in advance).....I play Christmas tunes on radio and gigs the first week of December..... you wouldn't expect to hear them any earlier, now would you? Some London stores have Father Christmas grottos as early as late September early October.....pathetic and sad, but if it makes money they will keep on doing it.
No Jackdaw, how could I ever forget. Surely not and she's not even called Noelle.
or Christine and derivatives - such as Kirstie
shame, I thought it was thirteen weeks to Christmas.....turns out that it is fifteen.....
10 days ago, still August, my local was advertising its Christmas menu, they had a table set aside with baubles, tinsel and dozens of the menus! To say it came as a shock was an understatement!!
