47 Sense and Sensibility
i don't get Davemano's clue for 17 either xx
I can see Sense

And Billy (idol)

and Tea (Earl Grey)

17 The Devil Rides Out?
emeritus can you explain where the mr, idol ,earl. grey come in please xx
ah we crossed ,well done xx
Well done, Emeritus. That makes sense! :-)
Thank you. Not sure how it works from the clue but it must be that.
38. Airman?
My clue said sporting contender. I believe the answer may THE DEVIL RIDES OUT. The OUT inferring anagram of SIDER. Could be way out but it looked reasonable. Racing jockeys ride horses out for their trainers.
37 I believed that GG may have confused Prince Henry for HARRY. He was not clean - DIRTY HARRY
