Sundays are not the same without the Sunday papers, and all my crosswords. I have really missed them. The papers are all a day late here and you cannot even buy a Saturday one as all the paper shops we have seen are closed. I suppose I might be able to get them tomorrow but I dread to think how much they would cost. The Daily Mail and the Express are €2.47 when you can get hold of them. I have managed to buy only two papers while we have been away.
Ah well home tomorrow night.

Oh yes, he is still getting the eagle eye.
Our Saturday Telegraph (for the crosswords) cost 4.50 euros each Monday when it arrived - or not, depending........I'm nor sure on what. Poor M. Ranger used to look so apologetic and shrug helplessly when he couldn't passit on to me (it was ordered). The Monday Telegraph (needed for the clues for the Herculis) arrived on Tuesday and cost 3.50 euros.

Both papers were, by the way, incredibly slimmed-down. I once queried the delay (they were printed in Belgium) and pointed out that when I was on holiday in Cyprus I could buy the paper the same day it was issued by 2.00 p.m.. The shrug was accompanied by 'Cyprus is further away'. It was galling to know that at Poitiers railway station (45 mins. away) the paper could be had the same day!

We had a mad rush to get the crosswords done and posted on time! One of the tiny snags of living in France.
I have a maison 45 minutes from Poitiers.....

When you can get the papers you don't get any supplements.and the mail doesn't have the reward numbers printed on the back either.
Whereabouts shoota? We were next door to L'Isle Jourdain (hence the name) on the Vienne. Still got the house there which we are trying to sell.
Really, the people were so lovely, we made many, many friends..... but the systems! They'd mainly given up - e.g. poor M. Ranger at the Point Presse.

Never thought of that master craft, will look into it, thank you.
FYI if you subscribe the the Mail Online you can access that from abroad - I asked them before I joined - they are also cheaper £129 for subscription - as opposed to nearly £300 for the papers and some of the comps can be entered online saving stamps.
PS if you subscribe online they throw in a kindle Fire HD free.
