Why won't crossword solvers let us know which puzzle they are working on? It is so annoying when they head their query 'Local' or 'Cryptic' etc.

Provided a clue and letter count is given the origin of the puzzle is not really neessary.IMO
Yes the editor should do something immediately !
Some don't know or just forget but some seem to ignore every request to provide exact clues, letter counts, letter patterns etc and some persist in posting in Q&P even when It's repeatedly pointed out to them how and where to post - but they will always get answers I suppose
I think it's helpful to put the name of the paper in the title as those who have answered some before will know some of the answers or will know the setter's style. There are some crosswords I like to help with but others I avoid (like Mephisto as it's too hard) so i don't even click on these
perhaps with the local paper they don't want to say where they are from .
I think there are 2 schools to this and I'm not moaning about either - if you put the name then those who have done it already can just list the answers immediately with some degree of satisfaction - or you can give the full clue, without typos and with letter count so everyone can have a stab.
I suppose at the end of the day the posters just want the answer.
Actually i don't mind 'local' or 'cryptic'- it's when it's headed 'crossword' or 'help please' or shows the clue in the title box that I find the title unhelpful. But I think we're flogging a dead horse as people don't study guidelines
What do you suggest OG ;-)?

Unfortunately, we have no control over what people type. Here are two links to our crosswords and quizzes and puzzles guidelines:

Perhaps a gentle reminder would be of use.

BTW thanks to FF for spotting all those misplaced threads I have moved them :-)

cheers
