Onwards and Downwards Continues in November 2014

Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

With Christmas and party season on the horizon some of us may want to look our best for that special do. And while you are all doing a fantastic job in the weight department we mustn't forget that self-esteem also comes from within and a dynamite outfit can give a massive confidence boost. If we feel good inside we look good outside. OK enough pep talk here are a few links that you may find helpful when shopping or looking at your wardrobe:

This one is good for both men and women :-)

I liked this one as it has both good things to do and what not to do:

Here are some fantastic looking larger girls on pinterest:

This is good for shorter girls and I love that they have put both pics in so you can really see the difference in the style.

The main conclusion seems to be that shaped and tailored fitting clothes will flatter most shapes even if they are slightly fuller. So ladies and gents lets flaunt what we've got and show the world that while we are trying to change our shape we are still amazing!!

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

You should continue to eat a healthy variety of food types. Simply analyse if you are overindulging in one.

Several months on a lo-carb diet means I've lost 9 Kilos and looking forward to losing another 10. Earlier this year I was shocked to find I was obese according to the BMI...this measure has been disputed, but was the catalyst for me to lose weight.

welcome jomlett,

good news that you have lost so much, feel free to join in here. The inmates are very friendly and it is helpful to have a "support group" around you even if they are on the interweb :-)

Thanks for the super websites auntie. You have been working hard for us and I'm sure it is much appreciated.
Thanks ab auntie so simple and yet the difference is amazing especially in the tops and skirts .
Thank you Auntie/Uncle
Ha ! I don't think those gals qualified as fat anyway. Some were a little chubby maybe. Pleasantly plump perhaps.
Oh lovely OG.....did you hear that ladies.....we're not fat as I know that most of us are in the same catagory as the ladies in the picture. Yahoo.
I've lost another 3lbs this week, making 45 in total since mid July. I feel better than I have for ages
Lydya if I am reading this right that is 3 stone in 3 months. I will say excellent and well done but Be careful as that is a lot to lose in a short time . Do you have much more to lose ?
I've just been reading through the posts and see that we have forgotten to say anything to you Jomlett...sorry about that. You didn't say how many months but from guessing it sounds like a good steady loss. You don't want to go too quickly as then it tends to go back on. We advocate a life style change with good sensible meals, lots if veg, focus on chicken and fish, with meat as a treat only a few times a week and do watch the size of your portions.
I have another couple of stones to go. I promise I haven't been starving myself (quite the opposite in fact). I started off on 1700 calories a day, and gradually it's gone down to 1400. The biggest change I've made is that I gave up beer and baking lol. I'm going on holiday next week so I'm sure to but a bit back on because I will be having a drink or two ;)

At first the weight came off at between 4 and 6 lbs per week - now it's down to between 1 and 3
Good luck to all taking part. I wish you all great success
Thanks Lynda b for the explanation yes you would lose steadily when you have a few stone to lose . Hope you have a nice holiday and please come back and let us no more often now you are doing as it all helps our other members on here to show with perseverence that it can be done .
Sorry jomlette I missed you too . Welcome and well done hope to see a good result again this week . And thanks JAnbee.
Oh double dam, pardon my French, I'm still the same!
Same here xstitcher and I have 2 extra special dinners this week one being on sundayfor my last weeks birthday when family will all be together, So will have to be good in between ,
6 months on the Lo-Carb diet, and thanks to this thread I've taken my first midweek weigh-in and discovered I've finally reached a loss of 10 kilos. Best of all my BMI (Body Mass Index) is down to 27 from 30 which is the start of Obesity.

When I started dieted earlier this year, I bought a very expensive leather belt that was the size I wanted, NOT what I needed: it didn't fit! Now not only does it now fit...I'm comfortably on the 4th notch!

I have no reason to return to my old ways, so Onward and Downward!
Well done Jomlett you have done well . Could you please give us a few examples of what you have for dinners and snacks over a couple of days .
