Please help all you ipad experts out there because I am at my wits end. my ipad will not connect to the internet. the network is coming up when I am in range of it, but when I try to connect it repeatedly asks for the password. when enter the password, it says unable to connect. not that the password is incorrect (which it isn't), but that unable to connect. I have tried all the following
1. rebooting the ipad
2 rebooting the router
3 resetting the network settings
4 resetting all the settings
5 I cannot tell the ipad to forget the network and start again because there
is no option to do that.

the only option there is is to join this network, which is what I am trying to do by inputting the password, but nothing happens. it is as though it has already forgotten the network but cannot for some reason accept the password.

The final option was to take the ipad back to factory settings. started to do this but the final step is to input the apple password. wont accept the password because I am not connected to the internet. What ????
I just don't know what to try next. when I click onto the little blue button at the side of the network name, the page comes up with all the numerical settings of ip address etc the page is blank. is there something I am missing here.

Go to Settings / wifi - is your network named there?
If it is, tap the name in the right hand window and your wireless connection details will appear. At the top of that page is Forget this Network. Tap that and then sign back in
How are you rebooting your ipad?
Do you hold down the top button long enough for the power off slider to appear?

there is no option to forget this network. only an option to join this network. which is what I am trying to do by inputting the password. then it tells me unable to join this network. I am rebooting by pressing the home and on off button together and letting it shut down. I have also tried just shutting it down in the usual way by pressing the button until the slider appears, closing it down then switching on again. nothing works.
Have you got anything else on that router? if so is that device connecting OK
You might try Settings/wifi then turn off Wifi for a couple of minutes then turn wifi back on and try to connect again
Passwords are case sensitive.

Is the first character of your password a letter? If so is it upper or lower case?

If its lowercase, check that the iPad is not set to Auto Capitalise - if it is then that may be your problem.

there are other devices, a laptop and and iphone. both connect with no problems. the ipad was connecting ok up to yesterday. have tried all the switching off, disconnecting, switching on, reconnecting. it is not the password that is the problem. the password is caps, and have tried in it both caps locked and caps shift. neither work. in any case, if the password is incorrect, it usually says that, in this case it says unable to join the network. when you click on the little blue button next to the network name at the top of that page it says join network. all the ip address details are missing. at the bottom of the page should evidently be a button which says renew lease, this is missing. I have downloaded all of the updates, no difference. after downloading the updates I have retried rebooting, resetting all the settings, resetting all the network settings. nothing.

well, done it but this is ridiculous. there must be something wrong with the ipad. re the password being case sensitive, it is, all capital letters. the people at sky told me that it didn't matter whether they were caps shift or caps lock. however, our ipad seems to have some kind of problem with caps. it will type caps in either shift or lock, but for some reason these are not recognised by the router. but it must be the ipad because inputting the same password on the iphone works. so I have had to get into the router and change the password to numbers instead. this appears to have resolved the problem for now, but apparently if we ever have to switch off the router, or if the power goes off it will go back to factory settings and we will have to start again. why is this made so complicated!!!
