I've found the World Heritage Site, But has anybody worked out the antiquarian from the two final numbers? Baffling!

General Roy, I think.

Thanks for that. Agree William Roy looks a good bet - but what are the two numbers? Presumably some triangulation point near Craignethan Castle? I've been doing this puzzle (almost) every week since 1999, and refuse to be beaten - never won the holiday, though!
They're OS co ordinates. Northings and Eastings.

Ah yes - makes sense, as he helped found the Ordnance Survey. Do you do this puzzle regularly? As you can see from my previous post, I do, and much pleasure it's given me over the years - when I started doing it you had to send the answer on a postcard to Leighton Buzzard! Maybe that's where Chris Fautley lives.....
The only thing i could come up witht regards the numbers is the dewey decimal for library books
Nope never done it. I just knew what the numbers were.
282500 and 649500 are the OS Coordinates for Milton Road in Carluke where William Roy was born (OS grid ref NS 82500 49500).
I've also been regularly doing Where Was I? puzzles since the 1990s and remember sending off postcards to Leighton Buzzard. Still waiting for a win!!
